Since its creation in 1967, the Port of Port-La Nouvelle has seen constant evolution to become a major player in maritime trade in the Occitanie region.
1967
Port Foundation
The port was inaugurated to meet the growing needs of maritime traffic and support local economic development. From the outset, it was based on collaboration between local authorities and the State, laying the foundations for an ambitious project.
1980s
Business diversification
In response to the region's industrial boom, the port is expanding its reception capacity and developing infrastructures adapted to new traffic, particularly in the chemicals and materials sectors.
2000s
International outlook
With globalization, the port forged strategic partnerships with international logistics operators. This period marks the arrival of new services and adaptation to the demands of global trade.
2010
Commitment to sustainable development
Aware of environmental issues, the port is taking steps to protect the coastline and reduce its ecological footprint, in collaboration with local associations and environmental agencies.
2019 - 2020
Start of work Region (Bouygues & SDI)
- South dike extension (600 m)
- Construction of new north dike and harbour basin (2.5km)

2021
Creation of SEMOP Port-La Nouvelle
This new public-private cooperation structure symbolizes a key stage in the modernization of port infrastructures, aimed at strengthening the port's competitiveness and attractiveness in a rapidly changing economic context.
2021 - 2025
Continuation of work to extend the port of port la nouvelle
- Construction nv liquid terminal
- Dredging of harbour basin at -15.9 ZH
- Construction of new multi-bay terminal ("petit môle") and 2 new docks
- Development of a business park
- Expansion of EMR terminal (+23 ha)
- Construction of 300m of quays
