Future port

The future port will offer full berthing facilities to ocean-going vessels up to 225 m length over all, 36 m beam over all and 14.50 m draft, thereby opening the port to new markets like Asia or South-America.

Port-La Nouvelle is the 2nd French Mediterranean port for petroleum products. Hydrocarbon imports represent about 1,100,000 tons of white products distributed throughout the south of France and Andorra.

Because Port-La Nouvelle is a regionally owned port, the Harbour Master refers both to the State and to the Regional Council of Occitanie / Pyrénées Méditerranée. For the State Authorities, the Harbour Master has authority on the traffic control, regulation of hazardous commodities, security and safety measures as well as assistance to ships in difficulty.

The railway network is well-developed in Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée. The port and its terminals are connected to rail. Distribution by trains, especially to northern Europe is easy by joining the dedicated freight corridor that runs from the Rhone Valley up to northern France.
