Large grain exports to Algeria

Begining January, Algeria issued an important tender for the purchase of  bread wheat (800,000 MT) and durum wheat (200,000 MT) to be delivered prior March. Lots of French ports take advantage of this tender due to russian exports which are stoped as well the ice season in great lakes.

Port-la-Nouvelle completes 2010 with a raise of +8,81 pct corresponding to a global traffic of 2,073,159 MT over the year. Grain (649,782 MT) grows + 25 % et the bulk and general cargo + 30 % (253,884 MT). Hydrocarbons and liquids maintain their position (1,169,493 MT) after a gain of + 12 pct last year.

During the 1st half 2010, Portuguese Group BSL started regular exports of woodchips from Port-la-Nouvelle. Over the 2nd semester, shipments become regular and range today from 4,500 to 5,000 MT each month (ie 12,000 to 15,000 m3). BSL is a European leader in biomass production and trading.

From January to November 2010, tonnages increased +9,87 pct compared to 2009, pushed by imports of fertilizers and petroleum products as well as enthousiastic exports of grain and woodchips.
