Traffics
Hydrocarbons : imports represent 1,200,000 MT of white products distributed throughout the south of France, Spain and Andorra. Main products are unleaded petrol, gas-oil and bio-fuels. Port-la-Nouvelle is the 2nd largest French mediterranean port for hydrocarbons.
Gas : about 13,000 MT have been imported in 2008.
Liquids : a specialised terminal offering 80,000 m3 of storage is linked to the D2 berth by 2 pipes. It is used for alcohol and edible oil. The terminal offers 9 tanks in carbon-steel and 30 in stainless-steel, out of which 6 in quality 316 L.
Cereals : 650,000 to 800,000 MT of grains are shipped from Port-la-Nouvelle every year, particularly wheat, maize and barley. They are delivered all around the Mediterranean Rim : Italy, North Africa, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Egypt... Port-la-Nouvelle is the 6th national port for grain and N°1 for exports of durum wheat.
Dry bulk and general cargo : 300,000 MT of dry bulk and breakbulk commodities are operated at the Quay East N°2 : fertilizers (bulk urea, entec), animal feed (sunseed oilcakes), agricultural products (rice, peas...), ore and minerals (cement, china clay, bentonite, salt, bulk anhydrite...), steel and alumina (coils, plates), industrial products (pipes), forest products (woodchips, sawn timber), bagged wheatflour, industrial goods...
Heavy lifts : Port-la-Nouvelle receives heavy-lift ships. Cargoes are windmills parts, tanks, power generators, yachts and factory equipment. The port proposes shippers building areas, close to the quay side, where large structures can be erected, avoiding the cost of over-gauge road transports.

Petroleum products, gas and liquids
Dyneff : with 2.6 million m3 of petroleum products brought onto the market each year, Dyneff is a major player in fuel distribution across France and Spain. Subsidiary of the KazMunaiGaz and Rompetrol Groups, Dyneff manages 22 pct of the fuel delivery in Southern France and is the first company in Languedoc-Roussillon by its turnover. The terminal of Port-la-Nouvelle is 120,000 m2 and includes 31 tanks amounting to 166,000 m3 storage capacity. The traffic of 750,000 m3 per year, corresponding to about 600,000 MT. See www.dyneff.fr
Total : Total Group is the world's fifth largest international oil and gas producer. With operations in more than 130 countries, Total engages in all aspects of the petroleum industry : exploration, development, production, refining, trading and shipping. Total also produces chemicals and electricity. Port-la-Nouvelle terminal is 80,000 m2 with 21 tanks corresponding to a storage capacity of 140,000 m3. The annual traffic is 600,000 MT. Frangaz : subsidiary of the Rubis group, Frangaz supplies butane and propane to the retail and consumer markets. Located on a 34,000 m2 land, the Company manages a storage of 3,000 m3 and is specialised in filling gas bottles, particularly under the brand name of supermarket groups. Frangaz delivers about 1,600 sales points.
Antargaz : part of the american group UGI, Antargaz is N°1 French supplier of propane and butane gas (25 pct market share, about 550,000 MT). The firm provides both individuals and companies with gas bottles, gas tanks or through collective networks. See www.antargaz.fr
FranceAgriMer : property of the French Ministry of Agriculture, the liquid terminal offers 39 tanks for a total storage capacity of 80,000 m3. 6 tanks x 1 000 m3 are in stainless-steel of 316L quality. ?7 tanks x 2 350 m3 + 15 tanks x 1 300 m3 + 2 tanks x 500 m3 are in stainless-steel 304L. 4 tanks x 5 000 m3 + 5 tanks x 2 350 m3 are in carbon-steel. The depot includes a private rail connection and 2 pipes for ship's operations. Loading rate is 120 m3 per hour and discharging rate is 150 m3 per hour.
Building materials, chemicals, ceramics and minerals
Lafarge : world leader in building materials, Lafarge is present in 78 countries with 71 000 staff. The group supplies cement, aggregates, concrete and gypsum. The mill of Port-la-Nouvelle is integrated to the industrial network of LAFARGE Group and produces cement and clinker. It is a leading factory for the use of alternative fuels, mostly recycled car tires, representing 2/3 of the actual energy power needs. Raw materials used for the cement production - calcite and schist- are extracted from a local quarry. They are crushed in very thin particules to obtain a flour which is send to an oven. It becomes clinker, the basic product prior the final transformation in cement. Clinker and gypsum are again crushed to get a "pure cement". Cereals
Silos du Sud : with a total capacity of 75,600 M, the private grain terminal includes 3 silos linked between each other with conveyor belts. Silo N°1 is 32,500 MT, Silo N°2 is 20,000 T and Silo N°3 is 23,100 MT. Loading operations are performed with 2 gantries : 1000 MT per hour at berth D4 and 800 MT per hour at berth N°5. The equipment also include 3 lorry receiving pits (150 to 300 MT per hour), 2 railcar receiving pits (300 to 600 MT per hour), 3 loading stations for lorries and 3 weight bridges. The Silo du Sud terminal meets the "food safety practice charters" and the ONIC tracking requirements.
